A study of Duval’s Teach for America teachers shows that many of the novice educators may be slightly better at teaching math and reading than other educators in the district. Their challenge, the study says, is turnover. TFA teachers are up to four times more likely to leave the classroom after two years of teaching than other new teachers, the study showed. It is a persistent national trend that TFA officials say they’re trying to reverse. In Duval, the study hints at some progress.
